Manage your applications efficiently using Primo and FleetDM by connecting to FleetDM, adding or removing applications, and configuring installation targets, while ensuring to stay updated on the migration process affecting visibility in Primo.

Install an app with Primo & FleetDM

Step 1: Connecting to FleetDM

To begin, log in to FleetDM from your Primo cockpit using one of these two options:

  1. From a profile: Go to the "Installed Apps" tab of a profile.
  1. From the main menu: Access FleetDM directly through the menu.

Either way, you can connect to FleetDM seamlessly using SSO from your Primo account.

Step 2: Accessing application configuration

  1. Once connected to FleetDM, click on the "Softwares" tab.
  1. Ensure you are in the "No Team" team (visible at the top of the screen).
  1. Click the "Add Software" button on the right side of the screen.

Step 3: Choose the application to add

The application configuration screen offers two options:

  1. Applications maintained by FleetDM: These are automatically managed and updated by FleetDM.
  1. Upload your own application: Add custom applications that aren't in FleetDM's maintained list.

Step 4: Define the installation target

After selecting your application, specify the installation scope:

  • All devices: Deploy to all enrolled devices.
  • Devices associated with a Label: Target specific users or devices using Labels.

How Labels work:
  • Labels are automatically generated in FleetDM from Profiles and Tags configured in Primo.
  • Look for the [SET BY PRIMO] indicator to identify them in FleetDM.

Step 5: Automatic Installation

After completing the configuration, the application will automatically deploy to all matching devices.

Important: During our current process migration, applications added via FleetDM won't appear in the Primo cockpit. This feature will be available in the coming weeks.

Remove an app with Primo & FleetDM

Disable automatic app installation

To disable automatic installation of an application, go directly to Primo from your Profile and click on Remove from Profile.

This action stops automatic installation for devices in this configuration profile but doesn't remove the application from devices where it's already installed.

Remove an app from a device

To remove an application from a specific device:

  1. Go to FleetDM
  1. Choose the device from which you want to remove the application
  1. Open the Software tab
  1. Select the Available for install applications
  1. Click on uninstall
